Four medical works by Jean Varandal in one volume, from the library of Bob Luza
€ 2.750,00
A lovely volume collecting four works by the great French physician Jean Varandal (1564?-1617), from the library of Dutch Jewish collector Bob Luza (1893-1980).
The first work is on lepra, syphilis and other venereal diseases as well as on diseases of the liver.
The second work treats the kidney and bladder, and the third, De morbis et affectibus mulierum, is devoted to hypochromic anemia, historically known as green sickness for which Varanda coined the term "chlorosis". The fourth work is on prescriptive medicine and features a wealth of recipes to prepare medicines. The second and fourth works are in second edition, the others are first editions.
