Second copy located of a concise boxing manual, the wrappers with a wonderful art nouveau design.
The manual, written to popularize boxing in the Netherlands, treats every aspect of the sport, including weight classes, the scoring system, conditioning, punching techniques, boxing organizations, etc. It is illustrated with six photos, including a portrait of American heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey.
The author, Johan H.W. van Ophuijsen (1882-1950) was a physician and psychiatrist. The manual was published as no. 136 in the series Weten en kunnen.
